Job Summary:

The Network Engineer - Consultant will serve as a technical expert and point of reference for the Network Operations Center team at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. This onsite role involves managing and supporting network infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring reliable network operations. The consultant must be willing to travel within the region and respond to network outages as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert technical support and guidance to the Network Operations Center team.
• Manage and maintain network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly.
• Travel to various SCDMV Field Offices during work hours using a state vehicle.
• Be available on-call outside of regular business hours and weekends as needed for network outages.
• Participate in onsite interviews and collaborate closely with the team.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar technical role.
• Valid driver's license is mandatory.
• Successful completion of a 7-year standard background check and credit history check.
• 7-year certified driving record (MVR) required.
• SCDMV fingerprinting clearance.
• Residency in SC, NC, or GA with willingness to relocate within 40 miles of Blythewood, SC prior to start date.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with state government or similar agencies.
• Familiarity with network operations center environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for onsite collaboration.

Special Considerations:

• Candidate must be willing to relocate within 40 miles of Blythewood, SC at their own expense.
• On-call availability outside regular business hours and weekends for outages is required on an as-needed basis.
• Use of a state vehicle for travel to field offices during work hours.
• Strict adherence to security screenings and background checks.

Scheduling:

• 35 to 38 hours per week, primarily during regular business hours.
• Fully onsite work location at 10311 Wilson Boulevard, Blythewood, SC.
• Potential for on-call duties outside standard hours.
