AEBS is seeking a Network Engineer/Architect for a long-term contract engagement supporting a large, distributed infrastructure environment. This consultant will help support network design efforts across multiple sites, with a focus on documentation, site surveys, standards alignment, and implementation support.
This is a great fit for a mid-to-senior level network professional who has strong core engineering skills, communicates well, and is motivated to learn a highly operational environment. While the initial engagement will begin with a 6-month evaluation period, the broader initiative is aligned to a multi-year roadmap, making this a strong long-term opportunity.

What you will do
Support network design and planning activities across multiple sites
Review and improve existing network documentation
Participate in site surveys and help assess current-state infrastructure
Work closely with senior engineers during onboarding and knowledge transfer
Shadow experienced team members initially, then take on increasing ownership of work independently
Support active infrastructure projects across multiple Wisconsin locations
Help identify opportunities for standardization, modernization, and improved documentation across the environment
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
What we are looking for
5+ years of network engineering experience, ideally in complex enterprise environments
Strong networking fundamentals, including routing and switching
Experience with MPLS and OSPF
Hands-on Cisco experience
Ability to read, interpret, and create technical network documentation
Experience participating in site assessments, field work, or infrastructure surveys
Strong communication skills and a proactive, self-directed work style
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt within a highly safety-conscious environment
Nice to have
Exposure to Nokia networking technologies
Experience with OT, industrial, or operational technology networks
Experience in manufacturing, energy, utilities, or other critical infrastructure environments
Experience working in environments where safety and field readiness are important
Work environment
Approximately 75% remote / work from home
Approximately 25% travel to sites across Wisconsin
Rare overnight travel may be needed for more distant locations
Initial onboarding will include 1–2 days onsite, followed by a structured ramp-up period with remote shadowing
Work may include visits to active field environments where safety expectations are critical
