Summary/Objective: A laboratory assistant performing phlebotomy verifies patient identification, draws blood from patients of all ages maintaining specimen integrity, labels the drawn blood for processing, and enters correct patient information into the LIS.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma required.
Preferred Education and Experience : A minimum of one year experience as a phlebotomist to include phlebotomy performed on all ages and ability to adapt to multiple computer systems.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Basic knowledge of medical terminology and data entry skills. Knowledge of specimen collection, specimen requirements, specimen integrity and specimen handling.
