Job Description

Careerscape is supporting a client opening for a Remote Junior Software Engineer. This role will support software development, application maintenance, and technical projects for a growing U.S.-based organization.

This is an entry-level opportunity designed for candidates looking to start or grow their career in software engineering. You will work alongside experienced engineers to build, test, and maintain applications while learning best practices in coding, development workflows, and system design.

This role is ideal for candidates interested in software development, web development, backend systems, or full-stack engineering.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and designers
Debug issues and support troubleshooting efforts
Participate in code reviews and team discussions
Support deployment, updates, and system improvements
Work with databases, APIs, and backend services
Follow development best practices and coding standards
Maintain documentation for code and systems
Learn new technologies, tools, and development processes

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred
0–2 years of experience (internships, projects, or coursework acceptable)
Basic knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar
Understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, APIs)
Familiarity with version control tools like Git
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently in a remote setting
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Attention to detail and coding accuracy
